Well, somewhere in Gary's brain he must have thought a race was on (see previous post) since he averaged 29K / hour and finished in 3 1/2 hours (I believe his personal best) - thus I was in a car on my way down to the event and no where near the finish line when he sauntered on by.
Gary took this shot at the beginning of the race - a sea of bikers:

All in all, Gary doesn't seem phased, said he had a blast, 'drafted' off other riders going the speed he wanted to go and had a great time. He is now muttering something about starting the something ride - a route from Houston to Austin when he gets home. Thought he would make it a yearly event.

Congratulations to Gary for a great ride! I am very impressed. You should have made him recreate the finish line.
The bike ride here in Texas is the MS 150. It's a 2 day ride held in April. I know it fills up fast whenever registration opens. Pat Watts has ridden in it a couple of times. They raise a ton of money for MS. And that's my knowledge of the race.
Congratulations to you Gary! Sorry you didn't get to catch him at the finish line, Lori. Not being a crowd person the whole affair looked pretty intense to me. It's wild to see the warm weather there and 18 degree weather here! Enjoy the rest of week end. A.J.
Thanks for the congrats - and yes, A.J. - too many people. I don't go to concerts or anything in a big arena because of all that humanity smooshed together - but at least this was outside and spread out a bit!
He loved it, that is awesome, and you were good support, even if Gary overestimated the time it would take by a wee bit.
Congratulations!!! What an accomplishment! The MS150 is a big deal around here and fills up almost immediately so I would find out when registration begins ASAP.
